Wilma Tschetter, 90, of Ashley, ND, passed away, July 14, 2025, at the Wishek Living Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 18, 2025, at 10:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church, Ashley. Visitation will be held Friday, July 18, 2025, from 8:30 – 10:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Ashley. A livestream of Wilma's funeral service will be available on the funeral home website.
Wilma Edna Tschetter was born on November 28, 1934, to Edwin and Emma (Rohrbach) Knoepfle on a farm 3 miles Southeast of Artas, SD. She attended school in Artas through 8th Grade. She Graduated from Eureka, SD High School in 1953.
On November 15, 1953, she married Floyd V. Tschetter at Greenway, SD. In the spring of 1954 they moved to Riverdale, ND where Floyd worked on the Garrison Dam and she worked at the Riverdale Café. The fall of 1954 they moved to a farm near Ashley, ND. During the summer of 1956 she attended college at Ellendale, ND and started teaching at a rural school near Ashley that fall. She continued her college education during the summer months until she graduated with her 4-year degree from UND Ellendale Branch. She taught school for 39 years, 36 years for the Ashley School District. She Retired from teaching in May 1995. During the summer months from 1980 through 1995 she worked for Border States Paving. She drove pilot car, did flagging, and also was the Field Office Manager for the sealing crew for the last 4 years. She was the Ashley City Assessor from 1996 through 1999. She did volunteer work for the Zion Lutheran Church for many years. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the North Dakota Teachers Retirement. She enjoyed camping, boating and fishing with her family. She also enjoyed bowling and gardening.
Floyd and Wilma moved into Ashley in 1958 and lived there until January 4, 2024, when she entered the Wishek Living Center.
Wilma is survived by one son, Keith Tschetter of Ashley, ND; three granddaughters, Jenny Reinbold, Nicole Tschetter & Reba Boutain; six great granddaughters & three great grandsons; one brother, Lester (Dorothy) Knoepfle of Lead, SD; four sisters, Darlene Knoepfle of Herried, SD, Idella Fey of Ashley, ND, Shirley (Jim) Ohlhauser of Bridgeport, WA, and Diane (Jerry) Graff of Mobridge, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd on April 20, 2011, her parents, one brother Leo (Myrtle) Knoepfle, and one sister Violet (Art) Nitschke, also brothers-in-law DeLane Tschetter, Elmer Goehring, LeRoy Fey, Art Nitschke and a sister-in-law Myrtle Knoepfle.
