William "Willie" Bitz, 72, of Napoleon, passed away May 7, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon. Visitation will be held on Monday May 10th from 3:30-5:30 PM with a prayer service at 5:30 PM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at 3:00 PM on Tuesday. William "Willie" Bitz was born in Bismarck to Mathias and Rose (Schwartzenberger) Bitz on March 22, 1949.  He was raised in rural Napoleon where he attended rural school for 2 years, followed by Catholic school through the 8th grade. He returned to the farm to help his parents before enlisting into the US Army and served in Vietnam to defend his country.

Willie worked throughout the US, retiring from the North Department of Transportation.  Willie was proud of the many different people he met and wholes lives he touched.  Willie married Donna Hager in 1996.

Willie is survived by his son, Brent, Arvada, CO; his 3 step children, Deanna Hawkins, TN, Lee Deck, Houston TX and Tiffany Hatcher, Las Vegas; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Hilary, Margaret, Cecilia, Vincent, Father Al, Sebastian (Bosha), Alex, Richard, Bernie, Monica and Marian.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Fred, Leonard and Jr; sister, Sharon; sisters-in-law, Joan Bitz and Debbie Bitz.
