A time of rememberance and sharing for Wilbur V. Quatier, Lehr, ND will be Monday, January 14, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home at Wishek, ND.


Wilbur Vernon Quatier, the oldest of four children was born February 4, 1927 to Lawrence and Martha (Kolger) Quatier south of Wishek, ND in a small cook shack – the first home of his parents. Wilbur attended rural school and graduated from Wishek High School in 1945 as the Salutatorian of his class. Wilbur was active in the FFA Chapter, holding several offices. In 1945 he was selected as the outstanding farmer. The next year he spent in Washington working with his uncle Dave Quatier and friend Lynn Eissinger. The next 2 years he taught rural school in McIntosh County and continued farming with his dad. On June 1, 1949 Wilbur married Adeline Were at the Lehr Baptist Church. After their marriage they lived at the Werre homestead North of Lehr. In 1950, Adeline's parents moved to Lehr. Adeline and Wilbur lived at the Werre homestead from 1950 -1994. David Lehr, nephew, is the fourth generation to now live at the Werre Homestead. Jeffrey Jerome, the only child was born December 22, 1954. The Quatier's were members of the Lehr Baptist Church. Wilbur served as a trustee and usher. Wilbur worked for Cenex and the Lehr Elevator for many years. After his retirement, Wilbur worked for the City of Lehr, reading meters and pumping water for the Lehr City water tower. He worked at the Bellon Park establishing the shelters and keeping it mowed as well as the City Cemetery.

Wilbur passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the St. Alexius Medical Center at Bismarck, ND. He was 85 years old.

Wilbur is survived by his son Jeffrey, Minneapolis, MN; his brother, LeRoy (Ida) Quatier, Sioux Falls, SD; his sister, Glenaris Gaetz, Detroit Lakes, MN; his sister-in-law, Luella Quatier, Washington State and 11 nieces and nephews.
