The funeral for Wilbur D. Holmgren, 91, Kulm, ND will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Kulm Baptist Church at 2:00 PM.  Visitation will be one hour before the service at the Kulm Baptist Church, Kulm, ND.  Burial will be at the Swede Township Cemetery, Kulm, ND.

Wilbur D. Holmgren son of Gunnar and Hildur (Bjur) Holmgren was born June 15, 1926 at Kulm, ND.  He was the youngest of four children and grew up in the heights of the Great Depression.  He and his brother Erick began farming the family homestead shortly after World War II.  Farming remained his true passion, even after moving to Seattle, WA in 1966 to work for Boeing.  He was hard working and always provided for his family.  Wilbur retired in 1988 but remained very active.  He loved working on projects at home or helping his nephew Mike Holmgren work on his farm.  Wilbur married Shirley Lind in 1954 and spent nearly 42 loving years together before losing her in 1996.  He married Carol Groves in 1997.  They promised to spend twenty years together.  They met their goal spending time and enjoying each other's company and that of their family and friends.  Wilbur will also be remembered by many nephews and nieces that he loved dearly.

Wilbur died March 14, 2018 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND.  He was 91 years old.

Wilbur is survived in life by his loving wife, Carol; one daughter, LaRae (Michael) Butler; one son Len Holmgren; three grandchildren, Justin (Hope Lockhart) Butler, Dylan Butler and Brie (Robert) McElroy.  He also leaves behind his great grandchildren, Keegan and Zoey and three stepsons, Dan, Jeff and Bob.  Wilbur was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Holmgren, parents, one brother, two sisters and one stepson.His loss will be greatly felt by all those who loved him.  But we take solace and comfort in knowing he's in a better place.  In the hands of the Lord.
