Solomon Wilbur Hauff son of Jacob L. and Hannah (Tarnasky) Hauff was born January 11, 1927 on the family farm at Lehr, ND. He realized his need for a Savior and committed his life to Christ at the Lehr Tabernacle at the age of seven. He spent his childhood either on the family farm or in Walla Walla, Washington, attending elementary school in rural Logan county farm schools or in Walla Walla graduating the eighth grade. Wilbur served in the United States Army in Korea and was always proud of his country and for most of his years he flew the flag on the farm. He returned to the farm and spent his remaining years raising cattle, being a good steward of his land, planting trees and raising a large garden. Wilbur was very conscientious about eating and living well and canned, froze and preserved most of his own food. In more recent years he raised various fruits and his homemade wine was always greatly enjoyed at all family gatherings. He was termed as the "Greatest Uncle" and spent many hours in farming pursuits and fishing with his nieces and nephews. He was a shy gentle man, well-read and enjoyed time traveling in Europe, Alaska and Hawaii, and most recently an extended tour of the east coast of the United States. He enjoyed dancing and one usually could hear dance music at his home. Wilbur was very generous and supported many charities.
Wilbur passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at his family farm. He was 89 years old.
