The funeral for Walter Miller, Wishek, ND formerly of Streeter, ND will be held Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 1:00 PM the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lehr, ND. Visitation will be held Saturday, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Wishek, ND.  Burial will be at the Miller Cemetery, rural Streeter, ND.

Walter Miller, of Streeter, North Dakota, was born in Logan County to John and Rosina Miller on January 21, 1925. He grew up on the farm southwest of Streeter with his parents and six siblings. The family was close-knit and survived many difficulties. Walter and Jehu spent many hours playing together. They were watched over by their older sisters, Ellen and Ruby.  World War II took Walter into the army where he served as an orderly in a hospital which he enjoyed doing. After he was discharged Walter found the love of his life when he met his sister-in-law's friend, Shirley Heitzmann of McClusky, North Dakota. They were married June 19, 1952. Walter spent many years farming and milking cows to support his growing family. He loved being out in the tractor, but he took time to play, too. There were many enjoyable family times spent at Salt Lake, taking walks, making music together, or playing games like softball. There were also times of extended vacations to Yellowstone Park, Badlands, Black Hills, Duluth, etc.  Walter served many years as an elder and a treasurer in the Streeter Seventh-day Adventist Church. He also participated in singing quartets and as a leader of the Pathfinder youth group. Walter was much appreciated by his family and others around him.

Walter died Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Wishek Living Center, Wishek, ND.  He was 93 years old.

He is survived by three children: Linda (Kimber) Hoffman, Lyle (Becky) Miller, Meritta Schumacher; ten grandchildren: Bryan (Kristen) Lehman, Jonathan (Emily) Lehman, Shawn (Megan) Hoffman, Bethany (Nick) Clark, Annie (Caleb) Pongo, Stephan Miller, Angelica Miller, Brett Schumacher, Seth Schumacher, Sierra Schumacher; three greatgrandchildren: Lucas Clark, Brinnley Lehman, Kasen Lehman; two siblings: Ruby (Art) Werth, Jehu (Delores) Miller.
