Virginia LaVerna Katherine Rieger was born July 28, 1931, in Eureka, SD to John Fred Rieger and Katherina (Bender) Rieger. Virginia's mother died when Virginia was an infant and her father married Bertha (Sayler) Rieger who lovingly raised Virginia as her own. She lived with her family on a farm southwest of Wishek. She attended country schools in McIntosh County.
Virginia married Edgar Just on November 2, 1952, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, rural Zeeland, ND. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed eleven miles southwest of Wishek on the Just Family Farm for 38 years, where they raised their family. In August of 1990, Virginia and Edgar moved into Wishek. Edgar passed away in 1997. In the Fall of 2012, Virginia moved into the assisted living apartments in Wishek, and in 2017, she entered the Wishek Living Center.
Virginia was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church of Wishek where she sang in the church choir, the German choir, and liked quilting with the ladies of the church. Virginia helped Edgar on the farm and they enjoyed traveling together. Virginia and Edgar loved square dancing and belonged to the Wishek Diamond Square Dancers. Virginia always enjoyed hosting the Just Family reunion at her home.
Virginia is survived by one son, Tommy E. (Julie) Just, Wishek; one daughter, Kathleen Just, Apple Valley, MN; one grandson, Nicholas (Jessica) Just, Mandan, ND; two brothers, Albert Sayler, Wishek, ND; and Roger (Fae) Rieger, Wishek, ND; two sisters, MaryAnn Fiechtner, Wishek, ND; and Elizabeth (Bill) Gustafson, Tempe, AZ.
