The funeral for Viola Johnson, Napoleon, ND will be held Monday, June 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Napoleon, ND.  Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at the Napoleon City Cemetery, Napoleon, ND.

Viola Schaffer, daughter of Anton and Elizabeth (Neis) Schaffer was born August 19, 1935 at Linton, ND.  She attended rural school and graduated from Napoleon High School.  Viola married Ralph Johnson on January 8, 1953.  They lived and farmed northeast of Napoleon.  After many years of farming, they started to travel throughout the east and west coast where Viola worked as a CNA on the west coast and in a candy factory on the east coast.  They returned to Napoleon in the late 90's.  Viola and her husband loved to travel, visiting friends and family. They made frequent trips to visit their grandchildren, never missing a special occasion and making special memories.  Where ever they went they made friends.  Viola was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain family and friends.  Whether family came from the West coast or Chicago, their home was open and filled with fun and good food.  She filled her home with love, laughter and music embracing all that was life.  Where ever she went, she was a presence.

Viola died Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Wishek Community Hospital, Wishek, ND.  She was 81 years old.

Viola is survived by  her husband, Ralph Johnson, Napoleon, ND; one son, LeRoy (Linda) Johnson, Delano, MN; two daughters, Debbie (Joshua) Cermenelli, Danville, CA and Shari Weber, Thornton, CO; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Jack, Kent, WA and Lorri Tabert, Bothell, WA.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter Dorene Joy.
