The funeral for Vincent Magrum, Braddock, ND will be Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church at Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon, ND.


Vincent J. Magrum has born July 26th 1932, at Lodgepole, SD, the son of Bernard Elias Magrum and Lena Mueller Magrum. He attended St. Matthews School at Kallispell, MT, and lived in a log cabin until his family erected a new house. He attended Goose Lake School in Tell Township for two terms and also attended school in Minneapolis, MN where he was captain of the football team and sang with the boy's choir at St. Helen's Church. The family moved to Curundu Panama Canal Zone. He rode the bus to government school where he was on the swimming team and boxing team. While attending high school at Balboa he took up woodworking. They returned to ND because of his father's ill health and took over the family homestead. Vince and Eleanor Glatt were married at St. Anthony's Catholic Church south of Napoleon, ND in 1955. Vince was farming and ranching with his father, Bernard, on the farm homesteaded by his Grandparents Edward and Bertha Magrum. Vince and Eleanor continued ranching until Bernard passed away in 1959. They then farmed and ranched on their own. They are mainly into cattle, cow-calf, and had a feedlot for many years. The main crops were corn, barley and alfalfa. Vince started Magrum Excavating in 1973 and sold the business to his son Jeffery in 1985. Vince had served on the Township Board for 12 Years and Township assessor for 4 years. He was a member of the Farmer's Union, Farm Bureau, Wildlife Club and a 4th Degree Member of Knights of Columbus. He has been Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 4496 of Napoleon and served as District Deputy for 4 years and was outstanding District Deputy in 1970. He has served 6 years as the State Director of Council Activities for the K of C. He has served 8 years on the Selective Service Board and as a precinct committeeman for 8 years. As a member of St. Katherine's Church of Braddock, he taught religion for 2 years and served 2 years as Trustee. He continued teaching religion for 2 years at St. Philips of Napoleon and as a substitute teacher for three. He was ordained a Lay Minister in 1977. Ten children born to Vince and Eleanor: Terry, Sharon, Patrick, Gregory, Bruce, Mark, Jeffery, Daniel, Richard, and Jodi. Vince enjoyed fishing, auction sales, farming, and ranching, spending time with family, and playing cards He was an extremely hard working man and will be greatly missed.


Vincent died Friday, June 1, 2012 at Medcenter One Hospital at Bismarck, ND. He was 79 years old.

Vince is survived wife Eleanor, Braddock, ND; Terry & Jackie live in LaPalma, CA Children are Ashley (Tim and Cameron) & Benjamin; Patrick and wife Marie live in Casper, WY Children are Christopher (Keelie, Tucker, Gracie) & Aftann; Gregory lives in Williston, ND. Children are Jordan (Melissa and Rayah, Sean), Andy and Toni, Gregory other grandchildren: Teagan and Ethan; Bruce lives at Mills; WY Children are Ryan and Jamie; Mark and Mary live in Kintyre, ND; Jeff and Donna live in Hazelton, ND. Children are Erin and Briana; Dan and DeeAnn live in Fargo, ND. Their children are Matthew, Dylan and Hannah; Richard lives in La Palma, CA; Jodi lives in Bloomington, MN. Her children are Miracle and Buddy. Vince was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon her husband Jeffery & son Alexander Strickland, grandson Jake Magrum, his mother Leana and father Bernard.
