The funeral Mass for Veronica Schmidt, Bismarck, ND formerly of Napoleon, ND will be held Monday, October 8, 2018 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon, ND at 10:30 AM.  Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon, ND.  Burial will be at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon, ND.

Veronica Jacob, daughter of Valentine & Veronica (Haegele) Jacob was born November 7, 1929.  She was raised on the family farm southwest of Napoleon and attended rural school.  Veronica "Frona" was united in marriage to Pius Schmidt on October 6, 1952 at Napoleon, ND.  The couple made their home in Napoleon until taking over his parent's farm in 1957.  There they made their home and welcomed three sons and two daughters before moving to Bismarck in October of 2015.  Veronica was a devout Catholic.  Over the years, her time was spent homemaking, gardening, playing cards and dancing a polka or two.  She taught CCD classes at St. Boniface Catholic Church and was a member of the Christian Mothers Association.

Veronica died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, ND.  She was 88 years old.

Veronica is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Pius Schmidt, Bismarck, children, Donald (Claudette) Schmidt, Bismarck, ND, David (Sandra) Schmidt, Bismarck, ND, Marie (Patrick) Magrum, Casper, WY, Marlene (Perry) Schumacher, Fargo, ND, Danny Schmidt, Napoleon, ND; eleven grandchildren, Jamie (Kristi Du-Rain Anderson) Schmidt, Jason (Ericka) Schmidt, Heather Schmidt Johnson (Shad Prellwitz), Ryan Schmidt, Joseph (Karla) Schmidt, April (Ken) Dahme, Jonathan Schmidt, Christopher (Keeli) Magrum, Aftann (Roman) Taijeron, Justin (Aimee) Schumacher, Kylie Schumacher; twenty great grandchildren and (three on the way); two sisters, Agatha Braun and Lugard Leier; four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death, parents, five sisters and one brother.  In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorial donations to St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery Fund and the American Cancer Society.  Share memories and sign online guest book at www.dahlstromfuneralservice.com .  Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND entrusted with arrangements.
