Verna Hochhalter, 91, of Wishek, ND passed away July 29, 2022 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Faith Community Church, Wishek.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Verna was born July 22, 1931 on a farm north of Burnstad to Fred and Katharina (Breithbarth) Wanner. Verna attended school in Burnstad until the 8 ^th grade. She married Calvin Hochhalter on October 10, 1954 in Wishek. They settled on a farm 3 ½ miles SW of Wishek where they farmed and raised their children. In 1992 they moved into Wishek and in 2020 Verna moved into the Wishek Living Center.

Verna enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing cards, crafts, word searches, and coloring.

Verna is survived by her one son, Terry (Debra) Hochhalter, Linton, ND; one daughter, Mary (Gerard) Schwab, Strasburg, ND; 5 grandchildren, Chrisy (Jeff) Rotondo, Michael Hochhalter, Kayla (Loren) Hendrickson, Mandy (Rob) Hummel, Jesse Schwab, 6 great grandchildren, Trey, Tate, Kaylyn, Brady, Dylan, and Aubrie; one brother, Theodore Wanner; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Hochhalter and Leah Berg and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2017; her parents; sister Lillian Meidinger; and brother Benjamin Wanner.
