The funeral for Thomas Scherr, 59, Zeeland, ND will be Wednesday, January 14, 2015 10:30 AM at St. Andrew's Catholic Church at Zeeland, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Zeeland, ND with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the church. Burial will be at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery, Zeeland, ND.

Thomas Scherr was born October 17, 1955 at Eureka, SD, the son of Kasper and Eleanor (Kramer) Scherr. Tom was raised on a farm 2 miles south of Zeeland. He attended school in Zeeland. Tom married Joyce Rath June 30, 1979 at Zeeland, ND. In November of 1979 Tom and Joyce moved to the home farm where they spent the last 35 1/2 years. Tom and Joyce were blessed with 3 beautiful girls who shared in making the farm a success. Tom always made sure his girls and everyone else knew the farm was successful because we all worked together. Scherr's Dairy was Tom's world, telling everyone stories of his 4 legged girls. In February of 2008 Tom made the decision to sell the dairy herd. He always loved carpentry and he began working with Leonard Weichel. Together they formed Weichel Construction. Tom served on the Zeeland School Board for many years. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Tom loved life and lived it to the fullest. He will always be remembered for his loud voice, especially at sports activities and those big bear hugs that were given to all. He always had a smile, made jokes even in tough times. He loved children and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. There weren't enough days in a year for time spent with family and friends.

Tom passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at his home on the farm that he loved. He was 59 years old.

Tom is survived by his wife Joyce, Zeeland, ND; three daughters, Alisha (Willie) Reis, Fargo, ND, Kristen (Travor) Lagan, Fargo, ND and Emily Scherr (special friend Tyler Eberle) Zeeland, ND; two grandchildren, Kaydence and Konner Reis; eight brothers, Robert (Loretta) Scherr, Bismarck, ND, Wayne (Sandy) Scherr, Vancouver, WA, Marvin (Donna) Scherr, Ames, IA, Terry (Diane) Scherr, Marshalltown, IA, Dan (Miranda) Scherr, Fargo, ND, John (Donna) Scherr, Oakes, ND, Jerry Scherr, Dickenson, ND and Tim (Peggy) Scherr, Sioux Falls, SD; his nieces and nephews.
