Thomas Aberle, 101, of Napoleon, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at the Napoleon Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, May 28 th at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
Tom was born April 7, 1920 to Joseph and Clara (Schumacher) Aberle on a farm South of Napoleon. He attended country school in the area. He worked on various farms in the area during his teenage years. Tom enlisted into the US Army in 1942 where he served in the European Theater during World War II until being discharged in 1945. He married Edna Rudolph on January 16, 1944 in California. After Tom's discharge from the military they returned home to Napoleon. For many years Tom ran his own business called Aberle Trucking and Excavation. He retired and sold the business in 1987. During retirement Tom loved to golf and help maintain the Napoleon Golf Course.
Tom is survived by his children, Gary (Ruta) Aberle, Sioux Falls, SD, Sharon Knott, Bridgewater VA, Diane (Robert) Ruhland, Sioux Falls, SD, and Wayne (Cheryl) Aberle, Williston, ND; grandchildren, Stewart (Gaye) Knott, Brian Aberle, DesiRae (Keith) Muirhead, Darcy (Kelly) Aberle; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean Weber, Hillsboro, OR.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife Edna in 2004; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
In Lieu of flowers Memorials can be given to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery or the Napoleon American Legion.
