The funeral for Theodore "Ted" Schock of Wishek, ND will be Friday, February 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke Lutheran Church at Wishek, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home of Wishek, ND. Burial will be at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek, ND.


Ted was born July 8, 1915, on the family farm southwest of Wishek, North Dakota, the son of John and Lydia (Boschee) Schock. He grew up on the family farm and received his education in Wishek Public Schools and Logan County Schools. Ted continued to Live and farm with his family until his marriage to Bertha Kuebler on July 6, 1941, at her family farm near Wishek, North Dakota. Following their marriage they started farming the Kuebler family farm nine miles northwest of Wishek. Ted entered the United States Army at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, July 13, 1942. He served during World War II in the Army Medical Corp, in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was discharged at Fort Lewis, Washington, on December 24, 1945. After his discharge he returned to farm northwest of Wishek until retiring in November of 1979, when he and Bertha moved to Wishek where they lived since that time. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and a member of the Fred Kelle American Legion Post #87. After retiring from the farm, Ted had the time to learn and enjoy sports. Bowling, fishing, and pool were favorites. He played, and excelled at, golf into his nineties. A favorite memory was playing golf with his grandson, John, and playing miniature golf with his son, Ken, grandson, John, and granddaughter, Ciara.

Theodore "Ted" Schock, died at the Wishek Home for the Aged on February 5, 2011. He was 95 years old.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 69 years, Bertha (Kuebler) Schock: one son, Kenneth "Ken" (Karen) Schock, of Bismarck; three daughters, Jean (Dale) Ziegler, Bismarck; Patricia "Trish" Coleman, Bismarck; and Susanne "Sue" (Tennis) Ingebretson of Fair Oaks, California. Six grandchildren, John Schock, Joseph Gross, Chad Gross, Tracy Ottesen, Kelly Mertz, Melissa Mertz Jury; three great-children Ciara Schock, and Markel and Joey Gross. One surviving brother, Emil (Doris) Schock, Bismarck, and two sisters, Margaret Peterson, Great Falls, Montana, and Amanda Finneman, Great Falls, Montana. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Edward, Gus and August and sister, Hilda.
