Ruby Martinson, age 95, of Kulm, ND, passed away on May 20, 2026, at the Wishek Living Center.

Ruby was the daughter of George and Bertha (Haase) Davis and was born on January 25, 1931, in a sod house on the family farm in Dickey County. She attended country school to receive her eighth grade diploma. Ruby married Roy Martinson on December 2, 1950.

Ruby was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was involved in the WELCA group and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She worked as a waitress for many years and later did janitorial work for Zion Lutheran Church and Heartland State Bank.

Ruby was an accomplished seamstress and did sewing for many people in the area. She also volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program by delivering meals in the community. Ruby loved to read, do puzzles and play cards. Her love of sewing was expressed through the many, many quilts she helped make for missions through her church.

Ruby is survived by her children, Deborah Lambert, Fargo, ND, Denise (John) van Gorkom, Eau Claire, WI, and David Martinson, Kulm, ND; five grandchildren, Tammy (Dale) Bullock, Superior, MT, Rochelle (Brad) Ehlenfeldt, Jason (Bonnie) van Gorkom, Joshua (Brittany) van Gorkom, all of Eau Claire, WI, and Heather Martell, Jamestown, ND; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Esther Sowers, Lodi, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Bertha; her husband, Roy; sisters, Betty Reinke, Erma Schrum and a sister in infancy; brothers, Walter, Arthur and Glenn Davis; nephews, Bud Sowers and Keith Konrad; and a niece Pamela Esner.

There will be a private family committal service at Pomona Valley Cemetery, Kulm, ND on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service at Zion Lutheran Church, Kulm at 2:00 pm. A livestream of Ruby's service will be available on the funeral home website.
