The funeral for Rose Martina Welk, Fargo formerly of Wishek, ND will be Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Wishek, ND.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND.  Burial will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Wishek, ND.

Rose Martina Meier, daughter of Adam and Walburka (Glatt) Meier was born November 7, 1929 at Zeeland, ND. She grew up and attended rural school in the Zeeland area. Rose married Clarence J. Welk on October 5, 1948 at St. John's Catholic Church rural Zeeland.  After they were married they lived at Timber Lake, SD. In 1951 they returned to the Welk farmstead in the Zeeland area.  In 1969 they moved to Wishek, ND.  Rose was employed by the Wishek Hospital in the Laundry Department.  Rose moved to Fargo in 2009 where she lived up until the time of her death.  She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and St. Patrick's Altar Society. Rose's faith was very important to her as she prayed the Rosary every day. She was a member of the Wishek Hospital Auxiliary. She entertained her family and friends with soup every Sunday.

Rose died Friday, May 18, 2018 at her home in Fargo, ND.  She was 88 years old.

Rose is survived by six sons and seven daughters, Karen Bakkegard, Fargo, ND, Geraldine Welk, Fargo, ND, Gerald "Chuck" (Arlene) Welk, Wishek, ND, Patricia Mootz, Fargo, ND, Robert (Karen) Welk, Bismarck, ND, David Welk, Wishek, ND, Donald "Donny"(Sue) Welk, Linton, ND, Cynthia "Cindy" (Ricardo) Garcia, Barneveld, NY, Beverly Vilhauer, Wishek, ND, Janet (Alden) Lautt, Fredonia, ND, Henrietta "Henri" (Frank) Welk, Harlingen, TX, Kevin (Tami) Welk, Fishers, IN and Keith (Katie) Welk, Indianapolis, IN; one brother, Mike Meier, Maine, 23 grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, two children, Barbara and Daniel, one granddaughter, Courtney, three sons-in-law, Roger, Vern and Merle, her parents and three brothers, Sylvester, Wilfred and Wilbert.  In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or Hospice of the Red River Valley, Fargo, ND.
