Rosina (Rose) Elizabeth Thurn was born to John F and Paulina (Kaseman) Thurn on January 25, 1926. She grew up with 8 siblings on the family farm southeast of Wishek and attended country school through the 8th grade. On June 16, 1946, she married Alvin G Thurn, son of John J and Katherina Thurn at St Paul's Lutheran Church.  Rose and Alvin farmed 5 miles northwest of Lehr where they raised four children.  Besides working side by side with Alvin in the fields there were always other chores to be done, cows to be milked, many, many chickens to be fed and a large garden to be tended.  In the fall of the year there was canning, butchering, and sausage to be made.  They farmed for many years before moving into Lehr where Rose worked at Grenz General Store.  In 1977 they moved to Wishek where Rose worked at the Wishek Nursing Home.  Alvin passed away in October of 1981.  On August 4, 2000, Rose married Art Bader at St Luke's Lutheran church in Wishek.  Art passed away in February of 2006.  Rose moved into Wishek Assisted Living and from there into the Wishek Nursing Home.  She loved to sing and play cards.  But most of all she loved her family and friends.  There was always a smile and a hug waiting when she opened the door.  She enjoyed family get-togethers and vacations, having been to Germany, California, Alaska, and many other places.  Rose was a member of St Luke Lutheran Church.

Rose was preceded in death by her two husbands, Alvin and Art, great grandchild Arianna Kaseman, son-in-law LeRoy Schmaltz, siblings and spouses, Hilda (Albert) Hildenbrand, Art (Irene) Thurn, Pauline (Jake) Thurn, Ben Thurn, John (Elda) Thurn, Edgar Thurn and Rueben Thurn.  In-laws Ida (Kenny) Sonnek, Esther (Sam) Rueb, Paul Thurn, Jake (Pauline) Thurn, Lydia (Martin) Hagel and Erna (Clinton) Hochhalter.

She is survived by her four children, LeRoy (Donnie) Thurn, Donna (Eugene) Gross, Jean Schmaltz, and Lucy Thurn; six grandchildren, Lori (Paul) Myerchin, Jennifer Thurn, Paul (Kathleen) Gross, Teresa Kaseman-Flynn, Jody (Tonya) Schmaltz and Eric Schmaltz; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Meidinger; sisters in-law, Leona Thurn, Marlene Thurn, Shirley Thurn, Eleanor Weixel and many nieces and nephews.
