The funeral for Rose Viola Lindgren, Kulm, ND will be held Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Kulm Baptist Church in Kulm, ND.  Visitation will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm, ND.  Rose will be buried in the Swede Township Cemetery next to her husband.

Rose Viola Lindgren was granted her life-time wish of seeing Jesus on the morning of December 26, 2018. Rose was blessed with not only 99 years of life, but 99 years of living. Though there were periods of her life that were hard, she always brought herself back to humble gratitude for all that God provided. She was the last to pass in her family and in that generation.

Rose was born the 5 ^th of 9 children to Signar and Jenni (Lundstrom) Lundgren. She was born on November 6, 1919. Her brothers were Edwin (June) Lundgren, Robert (Marion) Lundgren, and Clarence, who died as a young man and never married. Her sisters (and they were sisters) Mildred (Art) Anderson, Evelyn, who never married, Caroline (Edwin) Lindgren, Esther (Vernon) Lindgren, and Erma (Milton) Lindgren.

Rose married Carlton Lindgren on October 5, 1940, with Rev. N.E. McCoy officiating. Rose and Carlton raised cattle and farmed most of their lives. She was a good partner in all aspects of the cattle and farming operations. She was a great cook and baker of Swedish specialties.  Most of their lives, Carlton and Rose lived 5 miles NE of Kulm. Carlton died June 1, 1975. Rose and Carlton had five children: Sharon (Carl) Linden, Bruce (Sue) Lindgren, Lowell (Margo) Lindgren, Emery Lindgren, and Cheryl (Wes) Gackle. All five of her children are living and retired.

Rose had two great loves: she loved her family which included fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren, and she loved her God which included the church. If the church doors were open, she wanted to be there and be there early.  But Rose really loved everybody. Like her sisters, she was great at hospitality; her home was always open, and a "little lunch" would be served.  Lunch usually involved ice cream.

She was a life-long member of the Kulm Baptist Church. She had a great alto voice and sang for many years in the choir. She loved Women's Mission Circle or Women's Ministries and served as president. She was a deaconess for many years. She loved Pastor Dallas Johnson's ministry, but when she had to stay at home more, her pastors were the McCoys and later Pastor Harold Salem's telecasts from Aberdeen, SD. Pastor Salem and Rose were nearly the same age, and both were still preaching.

From her "memory" book, the following was her advice: 1. Follow Jesus.   2. Be faithful in serving the Lord and attending church. 3. Love one another, and pray for each other.

That was and is pretty sound advice.
