Ronnie Thurn, 75, of Wishek, ND, passed away December 8, 2023 at South Central Health, Wishek. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 5:00 – 6:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:00 pm at Feist Funeral Home, Wishek. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 3:00 pm. Ronnie Fred Thurn was born on November 27, 1948 in Jamestown, ND to Fred and Clara (Sayler) Thurn. He was raised and educated in Lehr, ND, graduating from Lehr High School in 1966. Following high school, he joined the North Dakota National Guard where he served for 21 years. He also helped his parents on the farm and worked for Klein Lumber in Lehr building houses. He eventually went on to work for the City of Wishek for 38 years. Throughout his whole life Ronnie was always involved in farming, ranching, raising cattle and chickens.
Ronnie married Carol Wagner on July 1, 1995, in Dickinson, ND. During his retirement, Ronnie and Carol enjoyed traveling and spending time with their families. Ronnie also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, tinkering on things, raising cattle, chickens and pheasants. In the past he also enjoyed helping his dad with taxidermy. Most of all, Ronnie loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was a member of the Wishek Wildlife Club and St. Luke Lutheran Church. He was also a member of AMVETS.
Ronnie is survived by his wife Carol Thurn, Wishek, children, Scott Thurn, Mandan and Rebecca (Jason) Bosnos, Henderson, NV; stepchildren, Mari (Adam) Krajewski, West Fargo and Justin (Katie) Franchuk, Bismarck; grandchildren, Loranna, Baylee, Chloe and Skylar Szimhardt, Colton and Cody Bosnos, Nicholas Stensland, Abigail Watson, Finley and Beckett Franchuk; great-grandchildren, Taylee, Dravin, Ronan, Claire and Medli; and his brother Marvin (Gina) Thurn, Kaysville, UT. He also had many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Clara Thurn and his father and mother-in-law, Philip and Doris Wagner.
