Obituary

Roland 'Roy' Meidinger, 96, of Wishek, passed away February 27, 2021, at the Wishek Living Center.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek, ND.  Visitation will be held Wednesday March 3 rd from 3-7 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek.  Burial will held at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek. Roy was born in McIntosh County on March 28, 1924, to Ferdinand and Dorothea (Rudolf) Meidinger.  He was raised on the family farm west of Wishek.  He attended Salem District School and graduated from Wishek High School in 1942.  He served in the US Army from May 5, 1945 to December 9, 1946.  While in the Army he served in the Occupational Forces with the 3159 th Signal Service Battalion at Yokahoma, Japan.  Roy was united in marriage to LuElla Kramer October 12, 1947. They made their home 7 miles southwest of Wishek where they farmed and raised their family. Roy and LuElla were very proud of their family and the farmstead.  Roy enjoyed his horses that he still rode into his 80's.

Roy was a member of the Wishek American Legion, Wishek Wildlife Club, Saddle Club, and the Diamond Squares.  He served on the Salem School Board, Wishek Community Hospital Board, and McIntosh County Farmers Home Administrative Committee. He was also a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church where he served many years as a trustee.

Roy is survived by his 3 daughters, Sarah (Lloyd) Hehr, Pamela (Thomas) Merrick and Fonda (David) Wolbaum; 3 sons, Rodney (Suellen) Meidinger, Boris Meidinger, and Bradford (Donna) Meidinger; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Meidinger, Ashley and Joe Meidinger, Wishek; sister, Wilma Speidel, Bismarck; sister-in-law, Marveline Meidinger, Wishek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, LuElla; an infant son; grandson, Jason Feist; brothers, Richard (Pauline), Oscar (Amanda), Art (Gladys), Tom (Millie) and Walter Meidinger and three infant brothers; sisters, Clara (Leo) Miller, Ruth (Alvin) Meidinger and Rose (Ephraim) Heyne and sisters-in-law, Melvina, and Leona Meidinger and brother-in-law, Wilbert Speidel.
