Roger John Martin, 91, of Napoleon, ND passed away, June 8, 2026. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 10:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Roger Martin was born November 9, 1934, to William and Ada Martin at the family home in Chaffee, ND. He graduated from Chaffee High School in1952. He attended NDSU (at that time it was North Dakota Agricultural College) until 1954 when he enlisted in the Army. He served 18 months in Ft Knox and Okinawa. He returned to college and graduated in 1959. He married Pauline Alderman on March 22, 1959. They moved to Minnewaukan, ND where he took his first job with the County Extension Service. They moved to Napoleon in October 1960 when Roger accepted the Logan County Agent position. For the next 32 years he did what he loved. Working with farmers, ranchers, and anyone that wanted to improve how crops and animals were raised. He did everything from weighing calves, working horse trail rides, to answering questions about apple trees, and countless other things that he chronicled in a weekly column he wrote for the local paper. He also was proud of his many Homemakers and 4-H clubs in Logan County. He loved serving the Napoleon community from being mayor to running the clock at sporting events. After Roger retired in 1992 he and Pauline enjoyed many summers fishing at Pollock, SD and winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama and traveling around the country. Throughout his life Roger loved hunting and fishing and was very proud of bagging a pheasant and catching fish even after he turned 90.

Roger is survived by his daughter Geraldine (Gerry) Reed (Harley), son-in-law Terry Westra; his five grandchildren: Vanessa Reed, Simone Reed (Prince), Nicholas Westra, Rachel Ramsett (Matt), and Steven Westra; and his five great-grandchildren: Fulanii Reed-Mohammed, Moshii Reed-Mohammed, EJ Ramsett, Wesley Ramsett, and Genevieve Ramsett.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline, his daughter Mary, and his five brothers Cal, Al, Wes, Bill, Phil and his two sisters Gin and Rose.
