Obituary

The memorial service for Reinhold (Reiny) R. Klein, 93, Wishek, ND will be held Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Faith Community Church, Wishek, ND at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at the Wishek City Cemetery, Wishek, ND.
Reinhold R. Klein (Reiny) was born to Jacob and Elizabeth (nee Ackerman) Klein on their farmstead about five miles northwest of Wishek, North Dakota on May 15, 1924. He was the youngest of eight children all of whom predeceased him.
Reiny graduated in 1941 from Wishek High School and attended NDSU until WWII interrupted his studies. He married Erna I. Sayler, also of Wishek, in December 1942 before serving during the war in the South Pacific. On his return he enrolled in Yankton College where he completed his B. A. and seminary degree from the School of Theology. He and Erna had two children, Mavis and Waldo.
He served UCC (Congregational) parishes in Wessington Springs and Belle Fourche, South Dakota before returning for additional education at the University of Colorado. He then served a parish in the Black Forest of Colorado before returning to South Dakota and serving UCC parishes in Chamberlain and Watertown. He served as Assistant Conference Minister for the United Church of Christ in Huron prior to his retirement.
After retirement he and Erna bought a business in Grand Junction, Colorado. Erna passed away in 1976. Reiny returned to his hometown, Wishek, and became the administrator of the Wishek Home for the Aged, now the Wishek Living Center. He and Jean Sayler married in 1979 and enjoyed many years of seeing their families grow and logging many miles of enjoyable time in their various motor homes, meeting and making new friends and new memories.
Jean predeceased him in August 2012. Reiny is survived by his daughter, Mavis (and her husband Dick) Sturm and his son Waldo (and his wife Lin) Klein and their daughter Erin; Jean's daughters, Roxanne (and her husband Lorren) Henke and their daughters Rachael & Tegan; Kim (and her husband Scott) Anderson and their sons Ryan, Matt, & Mike; Ann Jensen and her children Stephanie, Nick, & Abby. Reiny also delighted in his great grandchildren.
Reiny was a man of great compassion, empathy, and grace; forever giving of himself and asking nothing in return; a loving husband, father and friend. We will miss him very much and wish him well as he's attained his eternal reward.
