The funeral for Ralph Scherr, Napoleon, ND will be held Monday, February 24, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior the funeral at the church. Burial will be at St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be in the spring.
Ralph, son of Wendelin and Christina (Weigel) Scherr was born September 2, 1923 at Hague, ND. Ralph was the 2nd oldest of 14 children. Ralph went to country school near Hague until he 12 years old when his family moved to Napoleon. He worked with his father in the plastering business and did some farming with his father. Ralph went to Seattle, WA to join the Navy at 19 years old. While waiting for his enlistment to be accepted he worked in an Arms Manufacturing Factory, where he met and married, Pauline Fitch. Ralph's enlistment was accepted January 29, 1944. At that time Ralph and Pauline moved to Pauline's hometown of Denison, TX while Ralph went to Sea. Ralph's WWII Naval Service lasted 2 years. Ralph and Pauline moved back to Napoleon with 5 kids in 1957. Ralph was co-owner of the Scherr Construction & Plastering Co. out of Bismarck until his retirement around 1994. Ralph's hobbies were gardening and making wood furniture for his family.
Ralph passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, ND. He was 90 years old.
Ralph is survived by his children and their spouses, Ken "Ralph" Scherr; Tom (Sylvia) Scherr; Paul (Ann) Scherr; Juanita (Joe) Rohrich; Christine (Garth) Page; Judy Scherr (Rex Hoy); and Mark Scherr; 29 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Alvin, Wendelin, Joe and Pius; 4 sisters, Jeannie, Betty, Maggie and Christina. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Pauline, his parents, grandson Kenny Scherr and siblings Katie (Scherr) Williams, Mary (Scherr) Drost, Irene (Scherr) Krebs, George Scherr, and Albius Scherr.
