Phyllis Bethke, 96, of Jamestown formerly Kulm, ND, passed away June 18, 2023 at Ava Maria Care Center, Jamestown, ND. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm. Burial will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, ND.

Phyllis Marjorie Elhard was born October 31, 1926 in Jamestown, ND to Gottlieb Edward and Katherine (Retzer) Elhard. She was a graduate of Edgeley High School. On September 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lyle (Bud) Bethke, in Edgeley, ND. They lived in Edgeley until moving to Williston in 1948. In 1959 they moved to Kulm where they owned and operated "Buds" Dry Cleaning until 1963. Bud passed away on August 16, 2000.

Phyllis was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church, Kulm, ND and was also very active in the community. She enjoyed singing, reading and being with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Wendland, Jamestown; son, Curt (Pam) Bethke, Bismarck; seven grandchildren, Amie (Justin Christy) Jones and Ty (Leanna) Jones, Katelyn Britzman, Nick (Kyleigh) Bethke, Taylor Bethke (Kurt) Mueller, Wade (Carol) Robert, Jenn Lanning (David) Trombino; and 16 great grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Sarita (Jeff) Lanning, Skaneateles, NY; two brothers, Lloyd and Kenneth (infant); and sister Shirley Schultz.
