The celebration of life for Peuna Kaseman will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. Luke Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek, ND

Peuna Meidinger was born December 13, 1936 to Gottfried C. & Helen (Perman) Meidinger. She grew up on a farm in Zeeland with her 11 siblings. She married the love of her life, Raymond Kaseman, on November 22, 1953 and together they raised twelve children. She wore many hats during this time; working her job, raising her children, and being a farmer's wife. Her greatest accomplishment was being married for 65 years.  She worked 40 years at the Wishek Nursing Home in several different positions: cook, head dietician, and supervisor. She took pride in her cooking and baking abilities and is known to several generations of people as the "Soup Granny." Every Sunday, she would make soup for all that wanted to come always having enough to feed her "army" as she called it. She had the ability to cook anything up with a little bit of this and a little bit of that and this is how she taught others to make her delicious food. She had a skill for haircutting; cutting many people's hair just for the joy of company.  She had many hobbies: polka dancing, crocheting, gardening, collecting dolls, and canning. She also loved to feed and watch her birds in the back yard. She was a pillar of strength and touched the lives of many through the "twinkle in her eye", her contagious smile, her inspiration, and her kindness to everyone she saw. She had a sense of humor that could set anyone at ease. She gave the greatest advice and had an innate ability to smooth the ruffles out of any situation. Her love of family, friends, and tradition created long-lasting family bonds full of laughter and memories that will be cherished for many years to come. Peuna was an angel walking among us, now she is a guardian angel above us. She will be forever missed and loved by all that she has touched.

Peuna died September 15, 2018 at the Wishek Living Center, Wishek, ND.  She was 81 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Kaseman; children; Sarah (William) Bettenhausen of Greeley, CO; Rodney Kaseman of Wishek; Kevin Kaseman of Fargo; Dean (Marilou) Kaseman of Wyndmere; Sheila (Kevin) Zaput of Prescott, AZ; Daryl (Hazel) Kaseman of Wishek; Susan Kaseman of Wishek; Sandra (Wayne) Kettelhut of Ashely; Sonia (Patrick) Gregory of Wishek; Sheri (Christina) Kaseman of Fargo; Raymond Jr. (Rose) Kaseman of Wishek; and Kirby (Janeen) Kaseman of Bismarck; sisters, Ella Hood of Colorado Springs, CO; Sharlyn (Kenny) Shauer of Anoka, MN; Connie Bires of Oregon City, OR; brothers, Max (Peggy) Meidinger of Yuma, Co; Melvin (Rose) Meidinger of Wishek; Norman (Genny) Meidinger of Bismarck; Larry Meidinger of Tucson, AZ; Sister in laws, Edna Meidinger of Wishek, and Ruth Meidinger of Oregon City, OR; 31 grandchildren, 29 great- grandchildren, sister and brother in laws, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; Gottfried C. Meidinger and Helen Meidinger; brothers, Kenneth Meidinger, Milbert Meidinger, and Gerhardt Meidinger; sister, Marcella Meidinger; grandchildren, Chad Schlenker, Nicole Sanders, and Ariana Kaseman; and Son-in-law, Randy Schlenker, brother-in-law, Paul Bires.  In lieu of flowers please give to the place of your choice.
