Paul Leo Schumacher, age 23, fell asleep peacefully on September 25, 2022, at the Sandford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 30th, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Prairie Bible Camp Tabernacle, Lehr. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29th, 2022 from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Lehr Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Lehr. Burial will be held at the Lehr Cemetery. Paul fought a tough battle with cancer for over three and a half years. He endured eight major surgeries in addition to numerous other treatments and procedures. Through it all, he never complained. When asked, "do you ever question, why me" his response was, "why not me, why someone else." He would continue with, "God promises to only give us as much as we can handle, so it is a compliment that God thinks I can handle this much."

Paul was born April 1, 1999 to Albert and Coreen Schumacher of Venturia, ND. He joined the family as the youngest of five children and the only boy. He often lamented the thought of having five mothers. Paul was homeschooled for the first nine years of his schooling, then completed his last years of education at Dakota Adventist Academy in Bismarck, ND. While attending DAA he enjoyed gymnastics, music, sports, and hanging out with friends when time allowed. Family outings, pasture picnics, rodeos, horseback riding, campfires, road trips, and time with family and his church family helped mold Paul's character and laid a spiritual foundation for his life. He had a big heart, loved the Lord, and did what he could for others.

After graduation, he moved to Bismarck and worked in construction and at a car restoration shop for nearly two years. But, when he started his journey with cancer he moved back home and started working at Martell's Carquest in Wishek. He loved his job and enjoyed interacting with customers and making new friends. Paul had many interests and hobbies in his short 23 years which included, Legos, drawing, writing, learning new words, fabricating things with his 3D printer and laser cutter, building computers, working on cars, re-building engines, and more recently he developed a love for hunting, fishing and assembling guns. Paul was always starting new ventures and had many unfinished projects. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed raising and training his hunting dog, Reno. One of his many dreams was to go to Alaska and he returned from a two-week trip there eight days before he passed away.

Grateful to have shared his life are his parents, Albert and Coreen Schumacher, his sisters Tabitha Coto (husband Cid and children Enoch and Aurora), Mindy, Jody, and Janae Schumacher, and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Paul and Mary Schumacher and Leo and Deloris Flemmer. Paul was a dynamic young man with many interests and dreams. He will be missed by many!
