Paul worked various jobs and farmed with his dad until he was drafted into the army in 1953. Paul served in the military for 2 years and received his Honorable Discharge in 1961. He then did mechanic work. Paul married Alvina Frances Paul on October 3, 1957 at St. Lawrence Church at Flasher, ND.
