Obituary

The funeral for Ottilia Piatz, Napoleon, North Dakota will be held Monday, January 7, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon, ND.   Visitation will be held Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon, ND.  Burial will be at St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon, ND.

Ottilia (Tillie) Johs was born October 20, 1938 in Logan County, ND to Carl and Eva (Sperle) Johs. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural school south of Napoleon, ND.

Tillie married William J. Piatz on October 21, 1957 at St. Anthony Catholic Church south of Napoleon, ND. They resided on the Piatz family farm 8 miles south of Napoleon, where they raised their family and farmed for many years. In October 2009, they retired and moved to town in Napoleon. Tillie was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and of the Christian Mothers.

Tillie loved to play cards, crochet baby blankets, and was known for making the best homemade buns. She liked watching local sporting events and cheering on the Minnesota Twins. She enjoyed rides on the pontoon and laughing with her great grandkids while they played.

Tillie died Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND. She was 80 years old.

Tillie is survived by her husband, William, of 61 years; three children, Randy (Coleen) Piatz, Renae Knutson, Ron (Mikki) Piatz; brothers John (Sally) Johs, Charles (Roberta) Johs; sister, Elaine Gross; nine grandchildren, Justin (Bridget) Piatz, Krista (Chris) Gross, Ryan (Emily) Piatz, Amber (Brady) Fettig, Kelsey and Kylie Knutson, Jayda, Aleah and Alijah Piatz; twelve great-grandchildren, Jackson, Carson, Emerson and Benson Piatz, Kinley, Dawson and Taylor Gross, Wesley, Leslie and Lincoln Piatz, Adalynn and Brecken Fettig. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Eva, son-in-law Steve Knutson, sister Ellen Vetter, brothers-in-law George G.
