Oliver W. Bettenhausen, Jr.  passed away February 2, 2025, at the Wishek Living Center at the age of 89. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church, Wishek. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Feist Funeral Home, Wishek. Burial will be held at the Wishek City Cemetery. Oliver was born June 11, 1935, in McIntosh County to Oliver W. Bettenhausen, Sr. and Emma (Kramer) Bettenhausen. He grew up on the family farm and attended Beaver Creek Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus as his Savior at a young age.  He attended country school through the eighth grade. In 1953 he joined the United States Army Airborne Infantry and served until 1956.  He then returned to Wishek to farm and marry Virginia Fetzer in 1957.  They raised their family on a dairy farm southwest of Wishek. In 1981 Oliver and Virginia proudly earned their GEDs.  In 1998 they retired and moved into Wishek.  They enjoyed 10 years living in town before Virginia passed away. Shortly after Virginia's death, Oliver moved to assisted living in 2013 and in 2018 to the Wishek Living Center.

Oliver was a Gideon and a member of the First Baptist Church of Wishek where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher for many years.  He served on the Mcintosh County Soil Conservation District board for over 30 years.

As an avid outdoorsman, Oliver enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He loved spending time with family and especially loved having visitors with whom he could share his many memorable stories.

Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia, brothers Howard, Charles, Warren, and Edgar, and sisters Pearl Wahl, LaVera Ottmar, Mabel Larson, Blanche Wetzel, Coreen Albrecht, Muriel Schilling, Shirley Kaseman, and Ella Burr.

Oliver is survived by his brothers Larry, Athens, TN; Neil (Nancy) , San Diego, CA; and Richard (Maxine) Rapid City, SD; and sister Gladys Zimmerman, Napoleon; sons Reggie (Peggy) Bettenhausen, Wishek; Kerry (Pam) Bettenhausen, Wishek; Joel (Karen) Bettenhausen, Boyd, TX; and Cordell (Ann) Bettenhausen, Wishek; daughters Valerie (Gary) Hanssen, Kearney, MO; Linnea (Jeff) Pintur, Waterloo, Ontario; grandchildren Adam (Ashley) Bettenhausen, Alissa (Brady) Morgan, Austin (Ali) Bettenhausen, Nash (Ally) Bettenhausen, Nathan (Hannah) Bettenhausen, Emily Bettenhausen, Hanna (Eric) Ebel, Seth Bettenhausen, Samantha (Jackson) Walraven, Bo Bettenhausen, Brady (Lauren) Hanssen, Allie (Clayton) Garrett, Nicole (Hayden) Allee, Ginny Pintur, Daniel Pintur, and Michael Pintur: and 18 great grandchildren.
