Obituary

Norman Rost, 92, of Kulm, ND, passed away May 18, 2023 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Kulm Baptist Church. Visitation will be Monday, May 22, 2023 from 5-7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm. Burial will be held at Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Kulm. A livestream of Norman's funeral service will be available on the funeral home website.

Norman was born on September 29, 1930, on the family farm in Edgeley, ND to Karl Rost & Helen (Radke). On September 30th, 1955, Norman had the greatest privilege of being united in marriage to Norma Darlene Pahl. Norman spent the majority of his life farming, working in his mechanic shop, raising cattle and dairy.  Norman was also involved in delivering meals on wheels to Jud and was a Trojan corn seed salesman, custom sileage cutting and enjoyed blowing snow and mowing lawn for himself and his neighbors.

Over the years he was involved in the Friendship Club, Rod and Gun Club and the Cold Water Park Board. In his spare time, he liked to go camping and listen to polka music. Norman also enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, fishing and tinkering.  He also enjoyed visiting with others, sharing stories and jokes.  His most valued joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Norman is survived by his wife of 67 years, Norma; one brother, Ernest (Karen) Rost, Bismarck; daughter, Linda Hehr, Kulm; son, Thomas (Dawn) Rost, Devils Lake; grandchildren, Jesse "Bunker" (Erin) Hehr, Mandan, favorite granddaughter, Tanya (Ben) Harkness, Devils Lake and Dustin Rost, Devils Lake; great grandchildren, Bridgette and Grace Harkness, Devils Lake and Brandon and Grant Hehr, Mandan; and many nieces and nephews.

Norman was preceded in death by his son, Larry; parents, Karl & Helen Rost; sisters, Ann Rost & Ruth Degenstein; brothers, Clifford, Albert, William, Wilbert, Martin, Teddy, Marvin; and son in law, John Hehr.

Memorials in honor of Norman can be given to the Kulm Friendship Club.
