Obituary

Norman Gall, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, of Wishek, ND passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the age of 86. After failing health, he died peacefully under the care of the Wishek Living Center with his family at his side.

Norman was born on February 22, 1935 in Burnstad, ND to Peter and Martha (Just) Gall.  As a boy he lived in the country where he trapped and worked odd jobs supporting himself and his family.  He learned to work hard at a young age and worked for many farmers in the area.

In 1952 he joined the National Guard and in 1957 enlisted in the armed services, and was stationed in Korea at the DMZ as a Security Police on patrol. He returned to Wishek in 1958.  He married the love of his life, Carol (Martell) and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. They were blessed with two children, Stacy (Jeff) Meidinger and Rob (Lynn) Gall.

During his life Norman worked as a mechanic at Martell's, Pfeifle Chevrolet, for the City of Wishek for several years, and as Head of Maintenance at the Wishek Living Center for over 30 years.

He enjoyed many hobbies and was active in several clubs including the Saddle Club, Eagles, Snowmobile Club, Antique Car Club, Diamond Square Dancers, American Legion Drum & Bugle, and also served on the St. Luke Church Council.

Norman loved collecting coins and pocket watches. He raised cattle and Arabian horses, and enjoyed riding with his family, including several trail rides. He was known for his sense of humor and positive, uplifting personality. In his dedication to good health, he was passionate about exercise and weightlifting.  The family enjoyed many camping trips in the camper bus he built.

He was a man who mentored many and would do anything for his family. He was an excellent mechanic and carpenter, and could fix or build anything.

He was a proud grandfather to Brittany (Andrew) Anundson, Jonathan (Rebecca) Meidinger, Jordon (Kirstie) Gall, Cameron Gall, and Steve Shannon. He loved children and was blessed with 3 great grandchildren, Isaac, Ava and Axel Anundson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, sisters Phyllis Kocher and Viola Erickson, brother-in-law's Dan Schelske, Carl Zaborowski and Gordon Erickson, sister-in-law Donna Gall, and two great grandchildren, TJ Meidinger and Karlea Gall.

He will be sadly missed by his family, including his brothers Marvin (Farmer)(Phyllis) Gall, Elmer Gall, sisters Irene Zaborowski, Ella Schelske and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 22 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wishek at 11:00am.  Cremation has taken place and there will be an interment with military honors at St. Luke Cemetery later that day. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 21 from 6-7pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek. The family would like to thank the Wishek Living Center and Wishek Community Hospital for their loving and compassionate care. Norman will be forever remembered for his kind and caring heart, beautiful smile and gentle eyes. We will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us.
