The funeral for Mildred A. Nicholson, 82, Dawson, ND will be held Friday, August 25, 2017 at Salem United Methodist Church in Napoleon, ND at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at the Dawson City Cemetery in Dawson, ND.
Mildred Anne Carlson daughter of Raymond and Anna (Bakken) Carlson was born on January 25, 1935 in Bismarck, ND. She grew up on the Bakken farm northeast of Napoleon. Her passion then was her horses and always said she could ride a horse better than she could walk. She married Charles Wentz in 1954. They had five children. She proudly served as the Napoleon Postmaster for many years. She was divorced in 1984. In 1992 she married Wes Nicholson. They spent 24 years together enjoying and experiencing life together on the Nicholson Farm. Millie enjoyed tending to her beautiful flower gardens, her pets and cooking amazing German and Scandinavian food for her family and friends.
On August 21, 2017 Mildred Anne Nicholson passed away at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, North Dakota. On this day of an amazing solar eclipse, she showed us how her light and love was always there for us and always will be.
She is survived by her husband Wesley Nicholson; five children: Lynn (Audrey) Wentz, Orofino, ID; Pam (Craig) Eberl, Tomahawk, WI; Mike (Lori) Wentz, Mandan, ND; Bryan (Annette) Wentz, Bismarck, ND; Brad (Jen) Wentz, Detroit Lakes, MN. Step children Neil (Carmen) Nicholson, Dawson, ND and Beth Leier, Dawson ND. 27 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one sister Loretta (Terry) Druyvestein, Rollins, MT and one step brother Walter (Martha) Carlson, Sioux Falls, SD. Mildred was preceded in death by her mother Anna B. Carlson and father Raymond (Ruth) Carlson.
