The memorial service for Melvin D. Schilling, Wishek, ND will be Friday, January 27, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek, ND. Burial will be at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek, ND.
Melvin Donald Schilling, son of Theodore and Viola (Meidinger) Schilling was born June 13, 1945 at Ashley, ND. He grew up on the family farm 18 miles south west of Wishek and attended rural school in that area. In 1963, he graduated from Wishek High School. Melvin married Sandra Hagel on May 26, 1967 at Wishek, ND. They farmed on the family farm and in 1992 he started his employment with Cass Clay/AMPI as a field representative. In 1994 they moved into Wishek and retired from farming. He continued working for Cass Clay/ AMPI until he retired in 2016. He then drove bus for South Central Transit part time. His work gave him the opportunity to drive and socialize with people which he thoroughly enjoyed. Melvin served on the council at St. Andrews and St. Luke Lutheran churches. He enjoyed playing cards and being at the lake with his family whom he loved.
Melvin died Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Wishek Community Hospital, Wishek, ND. He was 71 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra, Wishek, ND; two sons, Brent (Trina) Schilling, Wishek, ND Scott (Lynnetta) Schilling, Wishek, ND; Seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexandria, Jared, Nelson (Josie), Bradley, Courtney and Brittney and one great-grandson, Gabriel; one sister, Mabel Pfeifle, Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents.
