Maxine Nevarez, 68, of Wishek, ND passed away December 3, 2022, at Essentia Health, Fargo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wishek. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek. Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. A livestream of Maxine's funeral service will be available on the funeral home website.

Maxine Frida Nevarez was born August 26, 1954, in Leadville, Colorado. She was one of the middle children out of 11. Maxine was young when her family moved to New Mexico. In her early years Maxine and Valentin had their first born, Anthony. A few months later she married Valentin and moved to Mexico in 1973. A few years later the family moved to Washington for work and had their second born, Christina. Maxine worked at a vineyard for a few months and then moved back to New Mexico. In New Mexico, they had their third child, Valentin Jr. Maxine loved her children and became a housewife, she cared and did everything for her children. Later, their family moved to Mexico on a farm and had their fourth child, Karen.

Maxine was a strong Christian and enjoyed reading the bible. She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially for her husband of 50 years and her grandchildren.  Maxine's daughter, Christina, moved to North Dakota in 1996 where Maxine would visit her at least once a year. She was always meeting new people and became close friends with the people in Wishek. Maxine became ill in 2022 and moved to North Dakota with her daughter for care.

Maxine is survived by her husband; Valentin, Mexico; her son; Anthony, New Mexico; her daughter Christina (Jose Reynaldo) Rodriguez, Wishek; her son, Valentin Jr. (Liz), New Mexico; her daughter Karen, Mexico; grandchildren, Jennifer (Collin) Feist and Jocelyn Rodriguez, Sujey Estefani and Christopher; Keyl. Her mother, Dolores, New Mexico; and her sisters and brothers Alex, Charlene, Adela, Dolores, Sandra, Jimmy, Floyd, Linda and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Pete, brother Dennis, and sister Lucille.
