Matthew J Bettenhausen was born in Bismarck, North Dakota to Doris and James Bettenhausen on August 27, 1984.  He passed away after a short illness in Bismarck, North Dakota on April 7, 2019 at the age of 34.  Matthew attended Wishek Public School graduating with the Class of 2003. He attended Bismarck State College and was employed by the Bismarck Tribune.  When he moved home to Wishek, North Dakota he was employed by Stan's Super Valu.  In the summer of 2014 Matthew moved to the Gardenette Apartment Complex in Jamestown, North Dakota.  He enjoyed morning coffee with a group of individuals with whom he developed a rapport.  Matthew appreciated music in a wide variety of genres including classical as well as hard rock.  He learned to play the guitar and developed a unique style of music that pleased him.  Matthew also enjoyed movie classics often watching his favorites numerous times.

Survivors include his parents, his Grandfather Joseph Meidinger, one brother Michael (Sandra), two nephews Joseph and Patrick Bettenhausen, and a fun-filled abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended cousins. Cremation has taken place and a future committal service is planned for a pleasant spring day.   Dahlstrom Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
