Mary Lou Vetter was born August 28, 1960, to Valentine and Angeline (Horner) Jacob in Linton, ND. She grew up on their family farm northeast of Linton, with her 5 siblings. She attended school in Linton graduating from Linton High School in 1980. While growing up on the farm they milked cows and that is how she met her husband Steve Vetter, when she was 14 years old. Mary and Steve were united in marriage on May 23, 1981. They built and made their home in Wishek, ND and took over the family business in 1980, where Mary has done the bookwork for 35 years.
Together Mary and Steve had 3 loving children, Brent, Lisa, and Brandon. Most of their early childhood years, Mary was a stay-at-home mom and did watch some of the neighborhood kids, which she enjoyed very much.
Mary's pride and joy were her grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. Very seldom did any of them have and event whether it was a sporting event, a rodeo, a concert, you name it, Mary was always in the stands supporting them. Mary was a very active member of the community of Wishek. Mary loved to camp, bowl, travel to Lake Havasu, and hang out with her many friends, especially their lady's night outs on Wednesday's. Within the last 2 years, before finding out she was sick, Mary started helping at the kitchen at Wishek Public School, and this is something she truly looked forward to doing and she could talk about all the children that she saw in a day and her smile was contagious when talking about it. Mary was "Grandma Mary" to a lot of children.
Mary is survived by her husband of 41 years, Steve Vetter; her children, Brent (Jamie) Vetter, Lisa (Paul) Goldade, and Brandon (Megan) Vetter, all of Wishek, ND; her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Kelsey, Ryker, Rylan, and Koltyn Vetter; Katelyn, Emily, Samantha and Elicia Goldade, and Amelia Vetter, all of Wishek, ND; her mother, Angeline Jacob of Bismarck, ND; her brothers, Gary (Nicole) Jacob and Duane Jacob; her sisters Shirley (Ward) Unruh, Linda (Jeremy) Rohr and Carol Jacob; her in-laws Arleen (Steve) McKay, Shari (Kelly) Buchholz, Tracy (Doug) Pearson; 9 nieces, 7 nephews along with many aunts, uncles and close friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Valentine Jacob and her in-laws, Mathias and Ellen Vetter.
