The funeral for Marlys Jean Wanner, Wishek, ND will be held Friday, May 8, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wishek, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1:00 PM to 7:30 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Wishek, ND. Burial will be at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek, ND.

Marlys Jean (Finck) Wanner was born November 30, 1939, at the family farm northwest of Lehr, ND to Paul and Freda (Kienzle) Finck. She attended country school 1 mile northwest of the Finck family farm, and high school in Lehr, ND graduating in 1957. Marlys and William Wanner were united in marriage on October 20, 1958 at Fort Carson, CO. While in the military, they lived in various cities around the country until moving back in 1959 and purchasing the Wanner family farm southwest of Burnstad, ND from Willie's parents. In 1967, they purchased the farm 4 miles north of Wishek, ND from Karl Wanner Jr. Marlys worked side by side with Willie, farming and ranching until they moved into Wishek in 1997. She also began working at the Wishek Home for the Aged in 1988 as a CNA, and continued working there until her retirement in 2008. Marlys was a proud member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek Women's Bowling League, and the Wishek Antique Car Club. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, fishing, embroidering, listening and dancing to polka music, playing cards, and spending time with her family and many friends. Her favorite place to be was out on the family farm, where she helped make hay and care for the cattle.

Marlys passed on to her eternal home Monday morning May 4, 2015 at the Wishek Hospital in Wishek, ND. She was 75 years old.

Marlys is survived by one son, Scott William (Carrie) Wanner, Wishek, ND; and one daughter, Kelly Kay (Randy Pratt) Wanner, Wellington, CO; three grandchildren, Christine Rose (Jacob) Fannik, Max, ND; Phillip William Wanner, Wishek, ND; and Rebekka Marie Wanner, Wishek, ND; one sister, Bonnie Dewald, Wishek, ND; one brother, Richard (Loretta) Finck, Jamestown, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William, son, Perry, sister, Darlene, brothers, Darold and Thomas, parents, Paul and Freda, and special friend, Larry Ruff.
