Obituary

Marjorie Keaveny, 85, of Wishek, ND, died October 5, 2024, at the Wishek Living Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 11, 2024, at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Wishek. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Feist Funeral Home, Wishek. Burial will take place at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Valley City, ND at 4:30 PM on Friday, October 11th.

Marjorie was born September 12, 1939, to Leo and Ellen (Dodge) Wilkes in Bowbells, ND. During her younger years she lived in a boarding house in Kemare, ND with her siblings. At the age of 11 Marjorie and her siblings were adopted by George and Mary Lorenz of Valley City, ND. Marjorie attended school in Valley City, graduating from St. Catherine's High School in 1958. She married Darwin Sorensen in 1959. Together they had five children: Ron, Jim, Wyatt, Patti and Robert. She married Leo Pete Keaveny in Valley City in 1976. In 1977 they moved their family to Wishek, ND. Marjorie worked various jobs throughout the years including waitressing, janitor at the Wishek High School and was CNA at the Wishek Hospital and the Wishek Living Center.

Marjorie enjoyed crocheting, gardening, taking care of her flower gardens, yard art and decorating her yard for all the seasons and holidays. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved her grandchildren.

She was a member of the Wishek American Legion Auxiliary, Sons and daughters of Ireland, St. Patrick's Altar Society and the Goodwill Ambassadors of the Wishek Living Center.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Pete Keaveny, Wishek; children, Ron (Linda) Sorensen, Valley City, Jim Sorensen (Beth Holden), Valley City, Patti (Dale) Meidinger, Wishek and Bob (Candace) Sorensen, Valley City; stepdaughters, Teri (Randy) McClaflin, Tower City and Shelly Vanbruggen, St. Paul, MN; 21 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; brothers, John (Linda) Klee, and Joe Wilkes; sisters, Liz (Fred) Bolton and Zola Overby; sister-in-law, Marlene Daniels; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Wyatt Sorensen; grandson, Jeremy Vanbruggen; brothers, Loui Daniels and David Wilkes; sister-in-law, Rose Wilkes; and brother-in-law, Al Overby.
