Obituary

The funeral for Marjorie Christensen, Napoleon, ND will be held Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND. The funeral service will be officiated by Reverend Wayne Hussong. Burial will be at the Finnish Cemetery, Kintyre, ND.
Marjorie Hedblad was born April 20, 1923, in Braddock, ND to Olof and Ella (Morgan) Hedblad. Marjorie graduated from Braddock High School and received degrees from Ellendale Normal and Valley City State University. In 1954, she married Chris Christensen, She taught school for 37 years, primarily in Emmons County. Marjorie liked embroidery, quilting, and gardening. She also enjoyed welcoming family and friends at her home. The family would like to thank all the staff, past and present, of the Napoleon Care Center, who took such good care of   Marjorie during her long stay there.
Marjorie passed away at the Napoleon Care Center on May 26, 2014. She was 91 years old.
She is survived by three sisters and one brother: Ethel Koistinen of Lake Norden, SD; Maxine Phillips of Crescent City, CA; Martha (Wayne) Hussong of Rockford, IL, and Raymond (Silva) Hedblad of Green Bay, WI, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides husband Chris who preceded her in death on December 12, 1995. They had one son, Michael, who died April 9, 2009, she was also preceded in death by brothers: John, Oscar, and Andrew Hedblad; sisters: Julia Perry, Alice Mackey, Helen Morris and Ruth Hedblad.
