The funeral for Marie Martell, Bismarck, ND formerly of Wishek, ND will be Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke Lutheran Church at Wishek, ND. Visitation will be Monday, September 12, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM with a family and friend gathering at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Wishek, ND. Burial will be at the St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek, ND.

Marie Reich, daughter of Adam and Katherine (Weber) Reich was born January 18, 1919 on the family farm in rural McIntosh County 13 miles west of Wishek, ND. She grew up and received her elementary education in rural McIntosh County schools. Marie continued to live at home until her marriage to Paul Martell on December 20, 1942 at St. James Lutheran Church rural Wishek, ND. Following their marriage they moved to Wishek. Marie was employed locally by the Wientz Café as a cook and for the local hotel, the Auto Inn, doing housekeeping for several years. She also did domestic work for various families through the years. Paul died August 12, 1987. Marie moved to Dickinson, ND in 2006 to the St. Luke's Nursing Home until February 24, 2010 when she moved to the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center at Bismarck, ND. Marie was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and the Hannah Circle, the Wishek American Legion Auxiliary and the Wishek Senior Citizens. Her hobbies included reading the Bible, sewing, embroidering, cooking, playing cards and visiting.


Marie died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center at Bismarck, ND. She was 92 years old.

Marie is survived by two sons, Vernon (Cheryl) Martell, Bismarck, ND; Clinton (Diana) Martell, Good Year, AZ; three daughters, Idella (Garland) Dockter, Helena, MT; Paulette (Darrell) Bittner, Dickinson, ND; Debra (Fred) Schauer, Wilton, ND; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Adam Reich, Aberdeen, SD; Edward (JoAnn) Reich, Bismarck, ND; four sisters, Lydia Werre, Wishek, ND; Erna Schwindt, Jamestown, ND; Bertha Schwindt, Wishek, ND; Alvina Brandner, Bismarck, ND.
