Marie Hilscher age 91 of Fargo, formerly of Kulm, ND died Wednesday September 5, 2018 at Eventide on 8 ^th in Moorhead, surrounded by her family.  She was just 3 hours shy of her 92 ^nd birthday.

Marie was born September 6, 1926 on a farm northeast of Kulm to parents Robert and Ida (Siewert) Fey.  She grew up in the Kulm area.  Her elementary education was at the country school 2 miles northeast of Kulm.  She graduated from Kulm High School in 1945.  She remained in Kulm and worked at various business places.

On October 26, 1947, she married Gideon Hilscher of rural Kulm at the Zion Lutheran Church.  They lived for short periods at Jamestown and La Moure.  In 1951 they moved to Kulm.  Four children were born to this union. Gideon lost his life on November 28, 1958 in an accident.  On November 19, 1961 she married Gideon's brother Herbert.  They continued to reside in Kulm where they were active in the Friendship Club, the Congregational Church, and   Herb with the American Legion and Marie with the Legion Auxiliary.  Herb passed away March 27, 2006.

Marie was a wonderful cook and loved to bake.  Her home was always the gathering place for family and friends.  Everyone loved "Ma Hilscher's" chocolate chip cookies.  In January of 2017, Marie moved to Ecumen Evergreens in Fargo.  There she was able to continue her favorite past time of playing cards with the ladies who resided there and her family.  Even though she missed Kulm, she loved being in Fargo so close to her family.  We will always remember our Mom for being thankful for the things she had and making the best of what she had.  She lived by the motto, you have to be a friend in order to have friends.

Marie is survived by her children: Donald Hilscher of Fargo, Robert Hilscher, Carol Little and Richard (Twyla) Hilscher of West Fargo; five grandchildren: Tara (Jason) Decker, and Jade (Jamie) Hilscher, West Fargo, Tessa (Scott) Evenson, Horace, Amy (Eddie) Clift, Sparks, NV, Kyle (Jess) Sandvik, Fargo and 13 great grandchildren: Brynn, Brystol and Bryelle Decker, Maia, Jack and Emma Hilscher, Bostynn and Blake Evenson, Berkley and Sydney Clift, and Aliviah, Kody and Kohen Sandvik; one sister, Ruby Gackle and many nieces and nephews.               She was preceded in death by both her husbands, her parents, her brother Ernest Fey and his wife De, her brother in law Russell Gackle, and her son in law, Glenn Little.

Funeral service will be Tuesday September 11, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Kulm Congregational Church.  Visitation will be Monday September 10 from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm, ND.
