Margaret Jangula, 83, of Napoleon, ND, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2024 surrounded by loved ones, at the Wentz Living Center, Napoleon. A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 10:00. a.m., followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon, ND.  Interment will be at St. Philip Neri Cemetery, where she will be buried alongside her sister Johanna and next to her parents.

Margaret Marie Jangula was born on March 27, 1940 to Michael and Johanna (Schwartzenberger) Mitzel in Napoleon, North Dakota. She graduated from Napoleon High School in 1958, and throughout her high school years she worked at the Napoleon Homestead Newspaper Office to assist her parents with living expenses. She married James Jangula on February 27, 1960 at St Mary's Cathedral in Fargo, North Dakota. They were blessed with three children and moved to California and their union lasted for 43 years.

Margaret attended San Jose State University and earned a degree in Education and Speech Therapy. While in California, she discovered and developed her love of painting which became her passion. She shared her natural talent by holding classes and donated endless hours of painting and refurbishing the walls and fixtures at her local church. Vincent van Gogh wrote: "Paintings have a life of their own that derives from the painter's soul." Margaret gave her heart and soul to her paintings. Her oil and acrylic paintings became popular additions and treasures to the households of her family and friends scattered throughout America. Her countless paintings will be memory keepsakes and live on forever in the hearts of those she's left behind.

Margaret considered her life's greatest blessings to be her children and grandchildren, her parents, brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, her nieces and nephews, and her best friends. She especially cherished her time creating special memories with her children and grandchildren.

She loved spending time with her best friend and sister Johanna Sanders. They prayed together and were very active in their church teaching adult and children's classes. They were thoughtful, kind, and caring as they reached out to help those in need. They enjoyed playing cards, singing, dancing, cooking, laughing, and creating years of treasured times together.

In 2003, Margaret relocated to Philadelphia and continued her passion of painting. With her very special friend David Blumenthal, they enjoyed entertaining, card parties, and attending concerts and theatre productions. They established a wide and popular reputation teaching group bridge lessons in numerous country clubs and in private residences. They enjoyed traveling and attending graduations, weddings and reunions in Canada, Arizona, California, Idaho, Hawaii, South Dakota, and North Dakota.

Margaret moved back to her hometown in 2022 and resided in the Napoleon Wentz Living Center until her death.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Mike and Johanna Mitzel, her brothers Richard, Mike, and Sebastian, and her sisters Victoria, Mary, and Johanna, her brothers-in-law Byron Lubbers, George Becker, and her sisters-in-law Mardine Mitzel and Marie Mitzel.  Survivors include her two sisters, Tillie Becker, Monica Lubbers, sister-in-law Marlys Mitzel, and one brother, Jerry (Marilou) Mitzel; her children Colleen (Ted) Stein, Renee (Randy) Gregory and Michael Jangula; her grandchildren, Justin Gorton, Matthew (Emma) Gorton, Sarah (Mads) Eriksen, Michael Stein, James (Lindsay) Gregory, Janae (Eric) Walters, and Jacob Jangula; and her great grandchildren, William and Ella Ericksen, Raelyn Stein, Mei-Mei Gorton, Wesley and Landon Gregory, Hazel and Lilyana Walters; and many nieces and nephews.
