Margaret "Margie" Bitz, 88, of Napoleon, ND, passed away July 28, 2022 at the Napoleon Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon with Father Brian Gross officiating. Rosary will begin at 10:00 AM preceding the Funeral Mass. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church with Father Jim Gross officiating. Burial will be held at St. Philip Neri Cemetery. A Livestream of Margie's funeral service will be available on the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church Facebook page or St. Philip Neri Napoleon YouTube page.
Margaret Elizabeth Gross was born to Alois and Regina (Schwengler) Gross on August 5, 1933, on a farm 10 miles south of Napoleon, ND, the eldest of 4 children. She graduated from Napoleon High School in 1952.
Margie and John Bitz were married on May 10, 1954 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in rural Logan County.
Margie is survived by children, Dennis and Mary of Rochester, MN, David and Donna of Fargo, Darrell and Danita of Napoleon, Darwin of Dickey, ND; 9 grandchildren, Carolyn (Kendall) Tomes, John Bitz, Emily Dunlap Bitz, Corinna Dunlap Bitz (Ryan Herickhoff), Aaron (Brandi) Bitz, Rochelle Bitz (Dustin Gustafson), Nicollette (Alfred) Schwalbe, Dallon Bitz, Amanda Bitz and 4 great grandchildren, Henry, Halle, and Heston Tomes, Amalia Schwalbe; sister-in-law, Carolyn Gross; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George and Eileen Bitz, Leo and Pat Bitz, Vincent and Bonnie Bitz, Pius and Cindy Bitz, Rosemary Wangler, Ben Weigel, Helen and Bob Dauenhauer, Francis Hornbacher, Maggie and Dan Seifert, and Sally and Jim Beneke.
Preceding Margie in death were her husband, John; parents Alois and Regina; brother Alvin Gross; sister Alvina Campbell; brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Lorna Gross; sister-in-law, Delores Weigel; and daughter-in-law, MaryAnne Bitz.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials go to the Napoleon Care Center or your preferred charity.
