The funeral for Lucille Hettich, 91, Kulm, ND will be Sunday, August 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm, ND. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Kulm, ND.

Lucille was born August 23,1922 on the family farm at Jud, North Dakota to Paul and Fredricka (Pfaff) Triepke. Lucille went to a one room elementary school and graduated from high school in Jud. She attended Valley City Teachers College and was a lifelong public school educator who began her teaching career in 1942 in a one room country school in the Jud area and lived with families who had children in that school during the school year. She taught at the Jud Public School and 2nd Grade at the Kulm Elementary School. Lucille met Harold Hettich and moved to Kulm where they were married on February 12, 1954. Lucille touched the lives of thousands of children throughout her 40 years in education. After retiring from teaching in 1986, she volunteered in the library at the elementary school. She received an outstanding honor on January 8, 1999 when the library at the Kulm Elementary School

was named in her honor. She was a passionate and caring teacher. Lucille inherited the love of gardening from her father, Paul Triepke. She enjoyed sharing her produce with friends, canning, baking bread, reading and crocheting. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was active in Bible Study, Ladies Aide and Thrivent.

Lucille Helen (Triepke) Hettich passed away on August 1st at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, North Dakota. She was 91 years old.

Surviving her are one daughter, Sylvia Gackle, grandchildren Christopher (Catrice) Gackle, Eric (Leslie) Gacke, and Jodi Gackle, great grandchildren, Devon, Jordan, Alison, Haley & Kaleb Gackle all living in Terre Haute, IN; one son, Doug (Kris) Hettich, Sidney, MT and grandson, Ben Hettich, Williston, NO, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Harry and Edward, sisters Esther, Bertha, Evelyn and Florence, and son-in-law Earl Gackle.
