Lorraine Reis, 89, of Napoleon, ND, passed away on May 1, 2021 following a full healthy life on Earth. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service with a rosary starting at 10:05 AM. Burial will be held at St. Philip Neri Cemetery, Napoleon. Lorraine was the cherished child of George and Barbara (Weigel) Ivanov, and the fifth child in the family of seven. Lorraine was born June 3, 1931 in Napoleon, North Dakota. She enrolled in the first grade and graduated from Napoleon school in 1949. Following her graduation, Lorraine attended Ellendale and Valley City Teacher's college for two summers. She earned her teaching certificate and taught at the rural schools in Mannheim and Weigel Districts for several years.

Lorraine had a strong sense of patriotism significantly impacting her community throughout her adult life.  Garnering a great degree of mutual respect, together she and her life-long partner and husband, Sebastian, raised eight children throughout a 58 year marriage. Lorraine and Sebastian owned Jamestown Livestock Sales for 23 years. Lorraine's community involvement also included being the first female school board member (1972) and the first female school board president (1974).  She was a dedicated member of the Napoleon Legion Auxiliary along with being a member and president of Altar Society and Napoleon Homemakers Club. Lorraine loved the Lord, was a strong prayer warrior and was an active and lifetime member of St Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon.

Lorraine enjoyed golfing, horseback riding, gardening, fishing and spending time with her family.  She took joy in playing pinochle, 500 Rummy, and Phase 10 and even foosball. These card games were often played with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren during visits or at holidays where the family would gather, as well as her neighbor and friend Carolyn, who lived to be 101. It brought joy to those who played with her, and the wager was usually a dollar (sometimes even $5!).

Lorraine was an avid traveler. Throughout her life she traveled to Australia, Japan, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Italy, Greece and Mexico. In her later years, she would spend her winters visiting and staying with her children in Florida and Arizona.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents George and Barbra Ivanov, her handsome husband of 58 years, Sebastian Reis, eldest daughter, Joan Reis Daigle, youngest son Joseph Reis, and grandson Alexander Engelhardt. Siblings Ambrose, Joe, and Ben Ivanov, Helen Mueller, Kathryn Thompson. In-laws, Pius and Julia Reis, Pete and Helen Wickenheiser, Tony and Eva Huber, Pete and Rose Reis, Teresia and Jack Dutt, Madge Leier, Caroline and Karl Schatz and Pius Reis Jr.

She is survived by 6 children, Jennifer Christensen (Dan), Jeffrey (Bonita), Jacinta Engelhardt (Kyle), Jacqueline Adkins (Jerry), Jacque (Arlene), Jessica Reis, son-in-law Dennis Daigle, daughter-in-law Jenny Eid, 24 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, in-laws Kenneth Thompson, Al Leier, Barbara and Victor Wald, Alvera and Tony Leier, Angie and Ed Geiger, and many nieces and nephews.
