The funeral for Leona Fiechtner-Sukut 92, Wishek, ND will be Friday, January 15, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church Lehr, ND. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND. Burial will be at the Lehr City Cemetery, Lehr, ND.

Leona Alma Rath daughter of Daniel and Pauline (Maas) Rath was born June 23, 1917 at Delmont, SD. She grew up and attended school in rural Lehr, ND. Leona married Fred Fiechtner on April 9, 1936 at Lehr, ND. They farmed on the Wilhelm Fiechtner Homestead. Leona was active in the King Homemakers Club and was 4-H leader for many years. She worked at the Wishek Home for the Aged for eight years. Fred died March 3, 1992. Leona married Jake Sukut in October 1993. They made their home at Wishek. Leona enjoyed family, music, quilting, playing cards, games, fishing and traveling.


Leona died Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Wishek Home for the Aged, Wishek, ND. She was 92 years old.

Leona is survived by one son, Clarence (Henrietta) Fiechtner, Fargo, ND; three daughters, Evelyn (Milo) Boschee, Lakewood, CO; Marlene (Jerry) Buchholz, Elk River, MN; Erma (Don) Wickham, Olathe, KS; a daughter-in-law, Julie (Dave) Fiechtner Edgerly, Central City, IA; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, one sister, Olga Kauk, Ashley, ND; two sisters-in-law, Esther Fiechtner, Wishek, ND and Arlene Rath, Ashley, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, two sons, Ronald and Frederick JR, one grandson, one great-grandson, parents, two brothers and two sisters.
