Leo Wolf, 91, of Napoleon, ND, died May 14, 2024 at Edgewood Village, Bismarck. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 20, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Burial will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 9:00 AM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. A livestream of Leo's funeral service will be available on the funeral home website.
Leo was born on September 13, 1932 on a farm near Kintyre, ND to Christ & Katharina (Himmerich) Wolf and attended a rural school in Kintyre area. In 1952 he was drafted into the US Army and served until January 1955. He attended Wahpeton State School of Science to become a diesel mechanic. On July 13, 1958 he married Viola Werre. They welcomed three children between 1961 and 1963. In 1965, Leo and his brother Marvin purchased what was known as Farmers Company Implement in Kintyre. They moved to Napoleon, where they continued to reside. The implement dealership became known as Wolf's Farm Equipment, and served customers around the state with Case IH, New Holland and Ford farm equipment for 43 years. Leo and Marvin also owned farmland, where Leo enjoyed being the most.
Leo was involved in many community and church committees, including Trinity Lutheran Church Council, Napoleon Cemetery Committee and American Legion. He loved telling a good joke and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He loved working with his customers, working on the farm, but most of all loved his family. He was so proud of his kids and grandkids and their accomplishments and took such pleasure in his great grand kids. His greatest love was for his wife, Viola, and the two spent 66 years together, working side by side for most of those years. He was a great man, never a harsh word about anyone, and was a role model to many. He will be greatly missed.
Leo is survived by his wife of 66 years, Viola Wolf, Napoleon; children, Julie (Tom) Schwan, Bismarck, Tim (Joan) Wolf, Fargo and Kevin (Cyndi) Wolf, Napoleon; grandchildren, Michael (Kathleen) Schwan, Sidney (Allison) Schwan, Stephanie (Karl) Baumgarten, Jordan (Hope) Wolf, Misty (Brandon) Hanson, Tara (Kris) Lofstrom, Jenna (Jayde) Landis and Brianna (Chace) Roquette; great grandchildren, Otellia Schwan, Sylvi Schwan, Malakai Baumgarten, Maya Wolf, Alyssa and Kailey Johnson, Nicholas Hanson, Ashlyn Erickson, Trystan Lofstrom and Hudson and Ada Landis; brother, Marvin (Adeline) Wolf, Dawson; sister-in-law, Mavis Wolf, Napoleon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Emma (Alfred) Sunde, Philip (Evelyn) Wolf, Otelia (Gust) Mertz, William (Ruth) Wolf, Alice (Alvin) Kemmet and Anton Wolf.
