Leo Hauck, 88, of Wishek, ND, passed away March 4, 2022 at St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 2:00 PM at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek, followed by a social gathering in the church basement. Leo Hauck was born to Gust and Marie (Schnabel) Hauck on January 11, 1934, in Britton, SD. Leo was drafted into the Army in 1958. He spent 18 months in Germany, where he earned his GED. After 2 years of service, he was honorably discharged in 1960. Leo and Arlena (Sayler) knew each other while growing up and were married on September 23, 1961, at the American Lutheran Church in Bismarck, ND. In 1968, they purchased the family farm from his parents 12 miles north of Wishek, making it a second-generation family farm. They were dairy farming until 1972 when Leo injured his left hand in a farm accident. After that, they changed to livestock and grain farming until 1981 when they built a dairy operation. Across 18 years of dairy farming, they were recipients of multiple quality milk awards, including the 1996 Logan County Dairy Family Ambassadors . They retired from dairy farming in 2002 and moved to Wishek in 2003. After retirement, Leo was an active member of the Senior Center, serving as the director and treasurer. He also volunteered at the local Food Pantry serving as the local and county treasurer. During this time, he greatly enjoyed working as a farmhand for Scott Wanner over the summer. Leo was always up for playing a game of cards, enjoyed puzzles, and loved watching his birds.

Leo is lovingly remembered by his sons Randall (Daphne) Hauck of Bismarck, ND; Ritchie (Terrie) Hauck of Richlands, NC; Dennis (Stephan Michaud) Hauck of Minneapolis, MN; and daughter Rachel (Bruce) Johnson of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren Justene Schlenker and Kelsey Schlenker of Idaho Falls, ID; Derek (Morgan) Hauck, of Menoken, ND; Danielle Hauck of Mandan, ND; Nathan Hauck of Bismarck, ND; Kendall (Leonard) Jordan of Nashville, TN; Azula Johnson of Chesapeake, VA and great-grandchildren Jaydon Putman of Idaho Falls, ID; Brynna and Brody Hauck of Menoken, ND; and one sister Leah Berg of Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded by his loving wife of 52 years Arlena, daughter Robin Quinn, son-in-laws Mike Quinn and Tony Schlenker, parents Gust and Marie Hauck, and brother Lynn.
