On Wednesday, September 16, 2020, Leo Flemmer, loving husband and father of five, passed to his rest at 90 in Bismarck, North Dakota, with family by his side. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Prairie Bible Camp Tabernacle, Lehr, ND. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21 from 6-7 PM with a prayer service 7:00 PM at Prairie Bible Camp Tabernacle. Burial will be in the Lehr Cemetery. Leo was born August 13, 1930, south of Lehr, ND, to Jacob and Emilia (Werth) Flemmer, a twin, and one of eight children. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school less than a mile away. During this time, he learned many poems, equations, and sayings that he could recite throughout his life. He attended Sheyenne River Academy in Harvey, ND, graduating in 1948. After graduation, Leo took up a teaching position at a country school south of Lehr where many of his students referred to him as "the best teacher they ever had".

Leo married Deloris Kaiser from the Streeter, ND, area on June 22, 1950. They made their initial home on a farm north of Fredonia and later moved to a farm south of Lehr where they raised their family. Leo and Deloris welcomed their first son, Kenneth, in 1952 followed by Yvonne in 1955, Coreen in 1960, Kimber in 1961, and Jolene in 1966.

For nearly 50 years, Leo and Deloris dairy and grain farmed while raising their five children. The children were an integral part of the farm and as the family grew, so did the farm operation. This allowed them to provide their children with a Christian education. He had a strong faith in the Lord and was active in the Seventh-day Adventist Church all of his life serving in many capacities.

Leo had many interests, talents, and was known as a jack-of-all-trades who could fix anything. He was active in the community and served on the Lehr school board for many years. Leo enjoyed woodworking and built many pieces that are still in the homes of his children today. He enjoyed traveling with his family and also made several trips to Germany to visit cousins. He and his wife extended the gift of hospitality and many still talk about the snowmobile parties, corn feeds, picnics, Fourth of July gatherings, and much more.

Leo laid his first wife of almost 50 years, Deloris, to rest on November 11, 1999. Soon after he married Janet (Shepherd) Diede on October 1, 2000 and moved to Pheonix, AZ, where he resided until returning to North Dakota in 2013 due to declining health.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, his five children, three step children, his sisters Erna, Mable, and Ida, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Deloris, his parents, his siblings, Raymond, his twin sister, Lilian, Ruby, and Alta.
