The funeral for Leicha Rae Schmidt, Kintyre, North Dakota will be Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, March 19, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 7:30 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at St. Philip Catholic Church, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Linton, ND.

Leicha Rae Vetter was born on January 11th, 1968 in Wishek, North Dakota, the third of Michael Jr. and Diana May (Bitz) Vetter's five children. She worked on the family farm while she attended Napoleon Public Schools. Leicha particularly enjoyed the dairy aspect of farm life. She graduated from Napoleon High School in 1986. Leicha was employed by Stock Grower's Bank in Napoleon and greatly enjoyed serving customers with a smile, and her friendships with all her co-workers. Leicha was united in marriage to James "Jimmy" Schmidt February 24, 2012 at Linton, ND. Leicha was a very devoted mother and loving wife; she considered her children to be her greatest accomplishment. Her friendly personality, generous spirit, and concern for others attracted many friends. Leicha's calm acceptance of her illness and strong Catholic faith touched many lives and inspired all who knew her.

Leicha Rae Schmidt, beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend was called home to our Lord on March 17th, 2012 after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family in her home when she passed on. She was 44 years old.

Grateful to have shared Leicha's life are her husband, James "Jimmy" Schmidt, Kintyre, ND; two daughters, Nicole (Will) Holter, Aurora, MN, Tiffani Quast, Kintyre, ND; two sons, Ethan and Erick Quast. Leicha is also survived by her mother, Diana May Vetter, Hamilton, MT; two sisters and two brothers, Lenae (Myron) Schneider, Linton, ND; Jim (Sara) Vetter and Gary (Rose) Vetter, Bismarck, ND; and Lynnette (Richard) Miller, Fessenden, ND; father-in-law, James J. Schmidt, Hazelton, ND; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry (Marcia) Schmidt; Doreen (Doug) Haugen; Richard (Bernice) Schmidt; Glenda (Glen) Sayler; Cleo (Leonard) Weichel; Frances (Tim) LaCroix; Connie Schmidt; Bernice (Danny) Becker; Lundina (Jason) Warne; Bobbi Jo (Allan) Brindle; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends; and special aunt Mary (Bitz) Humann, Napoleon, ND.
